What Is Dermamelan?
Dermamelan is a depigmentation agent that is used to treat skin conditions such as melasma, chloasma, lentigo and post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation. Dermamelan Depigmentation is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment to reduce the skin blemishes caused by melasma and provide the skin with a rejuvenated and brighter look. Dermamelan helps in reducing the pigmentation by influencing the production of melanin. The basic ingredients of Dermamelan are Ascorbic Acid, Phytic Acid, Kojic Acid, Retinyl Palmitate, Titanium dioxide and Arbutine. These ingredients inhibit tryosinase (the enzyme that produces melanin) and block the production of melanin.

Procedure
Your practitioner will begin with cleansing and prepping your skin for the treatment, then apply a thick layer of Dermamelan face pack to the face. The face mask will remain on your face for the entire day. The duration for which the face mask needs to be retained on the face will depend upon the skin type. For lighter skins the mask has to be kept for eight hours while for medium and darker skins it has to be kept for ten and twelve hours respectively. The Dermamelan mask can then be washed off with the prescribed homecare products at home. From the next day, you will have to apply the Dermamelan cream at home.

Downtime
Following your treatment you can expect 3 to 4 days of redness, sensitivity and mild swelling (not unlike a sunburn), and up to a week of peeling.

It will take about an hour to apply the face mask. You will have to retain the face mask for eight to twelve hours depending upon your skin type.
