Fat Dissolving Injections are also known by the terms non-surgical chin lift and contouring. They are a non-invasive treatment, as opposed to the surgical procedure of liposuction, that reduces small fat deposits. The treatment involves a few injections into areas of stubborn fat. We use DesoBody® and DesoFace® Injections which are the latest and safest second generation of fat dissolving treatments. The injections contain deoxycholic acid; a FDA-approved bile salt naturally produced by our bodies, which is used to break down the fats. Usually, our bodies naturally use this bile acid to digest the fat you eat. So the technique is in effect utilizing the body’s own way of dissolving fat by injection.

Procedure
Your practitioner will go through the treatment in the initial consultation to establish the areas of treatment and go through your medical history. You can ask any questions you may have and understand the benefits and risks.
Following your consultation, an assessment is necessary to confirm that the area desired for treatment is suitable – this depends on the thickness of the fat, measured by ‘pinching’ with a caliper. This assessment will allow us to calculate the exact amount of product required, the number of sessions, the safest session interval and the final cost of your treatment plan.
The treatment areas are then marked, the sterile product used is mixed with local anaesthetic and drawn up into a small syringe. The skin in the treatment area is cleaned then disinfected and the product is injected with a needle. Multiple injections are required per treatment area. The procedure causes minimal pain and lasts around 20-30 minutes, depending on the area(s) treated. You may notice tiny puncture marks and it is common to have localised redness.
Downtime
Following your treatment you can return to your normal daily activities. There is no downtime associated with this non-surgical procedure.
Aftercare
Avoid any cosmetics onto the treated area within a 12-hour period and avoid all direct sources of heat and radiation (sunlight, UV-radiation, sauna etc.) Furthermore, you should abstain from particularly demanding physical exercise for 7 -14 days.

Fat Dissolving FAQs
Redness in the affected area is common. You may experience bruising and/or swelling. Mild discomfort is common but some may have more prolonged pain. This can be managed and we provide guidance and support throughout your treatment journey.
The procedure itself is brief, lasting approximately 10-30 minutes depending on the area. We allocate an hour to the session.
After treatment, it is not recommended to spend time in the sun or use sunbeds and although exercise is encouraged to help enhance the effects, vigorous and demanding physical activity should be avoided for 4 weeks.
Fat dissolving injections, also known as intra-lipotherapy, destroy fat cells by damaging the fat cell membrane and liquifying the fat in the treatment area. The destroyed fat cells are then broken down and removed naturally through the body’s lymphatic system .
