Microneedling

Treat Yourself To Younger Healthier Looking Skin...

What Is Microneedling

Microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) or skin needling is a minimally invasive treatment to rejuvenate the skin. A device with fine needles creates tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin, which triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin. Results can include improved texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks. Microneedling may also be combined with a topical treatment, like PRP (platelet rich plasma) or another vitamin-rich serum.

Benefits

Procedure

To begin, an anesthetic cream is applied to numb the area in order to make the treatment as comfortable as possible. The microneedling device is used over the patient’s skin, creating tiny holes in the surface. The process typically takes less than 30 minutes;  your skin can be somewhat red, similar to a sunburn. It will take a couple of days for the skin to look fairly normal and you will gradually see results become apparent. Natural collagen growth happens over weeks and months, so it isn’t an instant fix, but your skin will become more improved over the long term.  You’ll need more than one treatment, depending on your skin concerns and areas you’d like to improve. We recommend  three to six microneedling treatments for optimal results.

Downtime

Following your treatment you can return to your normal daily activities. You will have redness and a stinging sensation for the first 24 to 48 hours.

Aftercare

Follow any instructions given by your practitioner and always remember to apply sunscreen, we recommend the mesoestetic spf 50+ available at Revita Clinic.

Optimising Your Results

Allow your skin to heal with a good skincare routine, cleanse, tone moisturise and apply sunscreen. Avoid using any products with active ingredients for at least a week. To further help optimise your results we recommend a peel treatment, your practitioner will best advice you on when you should have this after your microneedling treatment.

FAQs

Your skin will be numbed prior to procedure, however you may feel slight prickling  as the device is stroked over the skin. There will be moderate tingling or stinging sensation for  the next 24 to 48 hours. However, there are certain products that can be used to aid this. Our specialist practitioner will discuss all your concerns during your consultation.

You will have redness and a stinging sensation for the first 24 to 48 hours. Again your practitioner will advise you on the best after care.

Depending on your skin condition we recommend 4 to 6 treatments, one month apart, but a single treatment should result in a visible improvement of the skin.

It is recommended that you do not wear makeup after the treatment as it will absorb into your skin and damage your new layer of skin and may cause other complications.
