Chemical Peeling is a rejuvenating procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to cause peeling of its upper layers. Depending on the depth of the peel it can remove freckles, brown blotches, scaly sunspots and even superficial wrinkles.
The peeled skin is then replaced by new skin which grows out from the depths of the hair follicles. This new skin, having been protected in the depths of the hair follicles from exposure to the sun, is fresher and unblemished in its appearance.
The Skin peel can be applied to the face, neck, chest, hands and even the arms and legs. Skin peel isn’t for everyone you will not be able to get a skin peel if you are suffering from infection in the area you would like the skin peel , if there is any skin inflammation , if you suffer from severe pigmentation or if you are pregnant.
Chemical peeling is best suited to individuals with fair skin. People with dark, olive or Asian skin are generally not suitable for the Medium/Deep Peels as they have high risk of pigmentation problems after these peels. They may be better suited to a Superficial Peel. Our clinician will advise as to which peel(s) your skin is best suited.
Your practitioner will decide on the best course of treatment depending on your skin. An exfoliating gel of a lower concentration for use at home is usually recommended before the first deep peel in clinic in order to prepare the skin.
All our peels come with Facial using Skin Seutical product range. Therefore each peel treatment will take approximately 40 minutes and you may feel some discomfort during the first few minutes while the peel takes effect. After the treatment your skin may be a little red, but this will subside quickly.
During the following days you may find that your skin feels dryer and begins to exfoliate. It’s important to wear high level UV protector throughout the course of your peels. We recommend a product from the Heliocare range which provides broad spectrum SPF50 protection as a minimum, as well as powerful anti-oxidants.

In general, patients only feel a mild stinging sensation during light or medium chemical peels. After the procedure, the physician may prescribe a mild pain reliever to relieve any discomfort.
Chemical peels remove the outer layers of skin to reduce or eliminate the appearance of a number of skin imperfections and conditions. After a patient undergoes a skin peel, the treated layers of skin gradually flake away, revealing a fresh new layer of skin.
The recovery time after a chemical peel depends on the type of peel administered, because each type of peel affects the skin to a different degree.
For mild peels there is virtually no recovery time, though the skin may be mildly irritated after the peel, patients can return to their activities immediately after the treatment.
Medium/Deep peels can take anywhere from 10 to 14 days after the treatment for skin to be healed, however with deep chemical peel the full recovery process can take upto 6 weeks or so. Protection of skin is compulsory and its advised to take some time off work to see the full benefit of treatment.
Vertical lines also commonly known as “smoker lines” can be treated with small dose of Botulinum toxin. It is mainly due to loss of tissue volume and can be treated better with dermal fillers.
